SkinCare Sunday

Well Hello 2018! It has been such a good year thus far. I know most of us always have a long list of New Years Resolutions and things that we wish to accomplish in order to make ourselves better in the new year. I of course have a few an one of them is definitely getting back into what I love doing. I love sharing all that I know about the latest makeup tips and tricks as well as some D.I.Y projects I tend to come up with. I have made myself a posting schedule in hopes that this will help me stick to a posting routine and sort of help me break away from the rut I seemed to have gotten myself stuck in.

I figured I would start with my SkinCare Sunday Routine and share with you all my staples for taking care of my skin. I know it seems overwhelming the amount of Items I use but I assure you they have worked for me great deals and no amount of makeup is going to look great if your base and canvas isn’t maintained well.

Did you know that there is an order in which you should apply all of your skin care products? Most don’t and just wash their faces, moisturize and on they go. Well I am here to tell you that there is a particular way you should layer your skincare items to get the most benefit from them . I will list the order your products should be applied below.

First and foremost I tell you that every evening I take off all of my makeup. I am in the dental field and with wearing a mask and taking it off and gearing up between patients my skin definitely has been through an ordeal.I always take off all of my makeup before bedtime. I always begin with the Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water . This removes all of my mascara and eye shadow.I never have been a fan of makeup removing wipes for my face as I feel like I need something more concentrated and something that is going to eliminate all the residue especially in a delicate area around the eyes. They have both a waterproof and  regular formula. I typically done use Waterproof mascara on myself as I personally not a fan , however if it is something you need definitely consider the Blue bottle.

Claims to Be:

Oil , Alcohol, and Fragrance free.. Great for those with sensitivities.I put some on a cotton swab and I rest it on my eye for a few seconds and gently swipe down removing all the eye shadow and mascara. It Claims to be:

  • All-in-1 cleanser and makeup remover cleanses, removes makeup and refreshes skin
  • Surprisingly powerful yet gentle to skin, micelle technology attracts dirt, oil and makeup like a magnet without harsh rubbing
  • All skin types, even sensitive

Does not over dry and leaves the skin feeling refreshed. I really enjoy this product and especially that it leaves no film or residue behind.

Retails for $8.99 in most drugstores

Next Is your Facial Cleanser . I have quite a few I use and I use them interchangeably depending on how I feel my skin has been going. I recently traveled to Chicago where the temperature was 20 degrees and well it definitely took a toll on my skin. I always try to pamper my skin a little extra when traveling. Between the air plane and the drastic temperature changes I find that I get super dry and flaky in certain areas of my skin. It tends to make my eczema flare up a but as well so I am always a little bit extra when it comes to taking care of my skin.

Of course was hard to choose a favorite amongst these 3 but I had to share them all with you. I absolutely love the Dr. Brandt Oxygen Facial .  The Dr. Brandt Line is an amazing line and has been a part of skincare routine for a few years now and it is definitely not a cheap part of my main routine but I have managed to find some of his line at my local TJ Maxx and Marshalls for a steal! I always go to these stores first to see if the item I am looking for is there first because why pay full price if you dont have to!

What it Claims to Do:

An in-home, oxygenating and recovery mask designed to boost luminosity and reinvigorate skin in just three minutes. This luminizing mask helps lessen the look of fatigued skin. It works to provide tired, dull, lackluster skin with a revitalized, illuminated, and re-energized appearance. It also helps smooth the signs of fine lines. The potent formula was inspired by the most popular facial in Dr. Brandt’s practice and takes just three minutes for full effect. It is great for Dullness and uneven texture as well as fine lines and wrinkles . It is definitely an experience when using this mask. Once you apply it on the skin, after a few minutes it begins to foam and cleanse the skin. My face feels so clean and refreshed after.

Aqua Marina Claims to be :

A creamy, gentle cleanser that is designed to calm irritated, sensitive skin with skin-soothing ingredients like cooling aloe vera and lovely pink calamine powder in a cleansing kaolin clay base. It is wrapped  up in mineral-rich nori seaweed to nourish the skin and then added a sprinkle of sea salt for a super gentle exfoliation. This stuff is so gentle on the skin and my skin just drinks it all up.Whenever I am at my local mall and lured in by the aromas near by, I always leave with a tub or at least a chunk of this stuff every chance I get. You can purchase it in tub form or ask them to cut you a piece and they weigh it and price it out for you. Huge plus is that everything is freshly made and so good for your skin.

I wasn’t sure how to go about application. But I dove right in , grabbed a chunk and washed my face and It felt so nice after and smelled even better. I promise if you ever have the chance to go to one of their stores , you will be amazed at the amount of great stuff they have for the skin, hair, body and lets not forget the awesome Bath Bombs!

Next up is a Toner. So I personally tend to have oily/combo skin and get clogged pores in my T zone more frequently than I would like. This is where a great toner will come into play. They aren’t absolutely necessary but definitely a great adjunct to a skincare regimen. I of course couldn’t pick a favorite so I will share my top two.

Pixi Skin Treats Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner can be found at Target. I am fairly new to the Pixi Line and for a while some time ago this seemed like all everyone was talking about for some time.So as any other beauty enthusiast I had to try it for myself.

Pixi Glow Tonic Claims to :

Original 5% Glyolic Acid Formula with Aloe Vera and Ginseng. Gently exfoliates to remove dead skin cells, revealing healthy glowing skin. For all skin types. Clinically proven results. Alcohol free. Hypoallergenic. Paraben free. Not tested on animals.
  • Skin Concern: basic care
  • Recommended Skin Type: dry, mature, sensitive, oily, normal, combination
  • Used For: skin tone improvement

It seems a bit strong in scent Im assuming the all the ingredients , but leaves my skin feeling very soft. Not something I use daily but definitely a few times a week.

Retails for: $15.00 for 3.4 oz

Breath of Fresh Air is another great toner that can be found at Lush and the Name itself is self explanatory. Something about how fine the mist is that when I apply it I feel like I just went through a waterfall or was just misted by rain fall. It feels so good.

Claims to:

Give your skin a new lease on life with a blend of sea-inspired ingredients. A gentle spritz of sea water, aloe vera gel and rose absolute soothes, cools and hydrates stressed-out complexions and works wonders to calm redness too. You won’t find any alcohol in our toners—just kind and caring ingredients to help you feel your best!

Retail: $10.95 3.3 oz

Then we Have Serums. Why a Serum you ask? Well serums are made up of smaller molecules that can penetrate  deeply into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients. Serums should be applied after cleansing and toning. Sunscreen should be applied after the serum. Of course I couldn’t have just one favorite.

Dr. Brandt Collagen Serum (May be Discontinued) Like I mentioned before I love the Dr. Brandt Line and I actually found this at TJ Maxx as well. I do not think Sephora or Ulta carry it anymore but have spotted it on Amazon.

Claims to be :

A Concentrated serum that maximizes collagen levels. Give your moisturizer a best friend with this concentrated serum formulated with Dr. Brandt’s customized blend of key amino acids, which represents 80% of collagen’s natural composition, to boost and maintain collagen levels in the skin.

Retail: $30-50 1 FL OZ

Perricone MD Blue Plasma I have to say the very first time I used this I was turned off by the god awful fishy smell that it had. I couldn’t seem to get past it but the next day when I saw my skin I was sold. I couldn’t believe just how good it looked and felt. I have never used it to remove my makeup and not sure If I ever would, however I will say it worked great on my sensitive skin.

Now for Moisturizer

I received this Loreal Revitalift Moisturizer as a complimentary product from Influenter for review purposes. I was pleasantly surprised for a drugstore skin care line how well it worked. it is thick and creamy and is absolutely great for those with dry skin.

I am not one to leave my products on the counter charging all the time. However even after having charged mine and if I go some time without using it, always seems dead. Can be a little annoying.
